Season 7 Championship Results From July 24 - Season 8 Schedule
July 27, 2010
Congratulations to Allen for winning the Season 7 Championship this past Saturday night. Allen, our defending league champion, went into the tourney as our season points leader, and collected the top prize in round 18. Way to go!
Ed took the second spot in the Season 7 Championship. It should also be noted that Ed had the most eliminations of the evening, collecting 5 hits throughout the tournament. Jay finished in third place, also netting cash and a trophy. Hom was our fourth ranked player of the championship. Greg was first out, collecting a very fancy home poker TV game. Full event results are now online.
A huge congrats to not only everyone who finished in the money during the championship, but also to everyone throughout the season. We made a lot of new friends over the season, and had a great time.
Season 8 is scheduled to begin on August 21, 2010. We will once again alternate between hold'em and non-hold'em games throughout the course of the 12 game season, including a couple of new events. The Season 8 schedule is now online. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again on August 21, and getting the Dark City Poker League back in action! If you happen to know of anyone who would like to join us for our upcoming season, please have them register here on the website. |

Season 8 Rule Amendments
June 17, 2010
Every season, we introduce a voluntary survey to the players asking what types of changes, if any, that you would like to see in the upcoming season. Along with that, we also ask the games that you would like to see played. Earlier this week, the results of the survey were posted here. All of the following changes/additions will go into effect for Season 8, which is tentatively scheduled to start on August 21, 2010.
As of right now, the following is the Season 8 schedule. These dates may change from now to the start of the new season:
Event 1 - August 21, 2010 - NL Hold'em
Event 2 - September 4, 2010 - 7 Card Stud
Event 3 - September 18, 2010 - NL Hold'em
Event 4 - October 2, 2010 - Heads-up Tourney (NL Hold'em)
Event 5 - October 16, 2010 - NL Hold'em
Event 6 - November 13, 2010 - Mixed NL Hold'em/Omaha
Event 7 - November 27, 2010 - NL Hold'em
Event 8 - December 11, 2010 - NL Pineapple
Event 9 - January 8, 2011 - NL Hold'em
Event 10 - January 22, 2011 - NL Omaha
Event 11 - February 5, 2011 - NL Hold'em
Event 12 - February 19, 2011 - HORSE
Wild Card - March 5, 2011 - NL Hold'em
Season 8 Championship - March 19, 2011 - NL Hold'em
We will once again play 12 games in the upcoming Season 8. Of the 12 games, we will only see two limit games. The games will be six NL Hold'em, HORSE, Mixed Hold'em/Omaha, NL Omaha, Stud, Heads-up Tourney, and Pineapple. The heads-up tourney will be a modified single elimination style, with a 2 match guarantee for every player. The wild card game will remain tournament style, and the championship game will remain NL Hold'em. For Season 8, the point schedule will remain the same and be based on a maximum of 24 players. Blinds and chips will also remain the same.
Rebuys will remain for Season 8, and will be single rebuy per player through round 6. The cost of a rebuy will increase from $15 to $15 plus 10 points.
The bounty points will see a major makeover for Season 8. Each player in the tournament shall carry a 1 point bounty. The winner of the previous tournament shall still carry a 5 point bounty. When a player is eliminated from the tourney, the hitman shall receive the bonus point(s). If a player rebuys into the tournament, then that player shall not be considered eliminated and no point will be awarded until that player has been completely eliminated from the tournament. If the first place bounty is eliminated from the tournament, then the hitman shall be awarded 5 points. If the first place bounty is not eliminated from the tournament, then those points will carry over into the next tournament, making the first place bounty worth 10 points. This will continue to increase until the bounty is awarded.
A couple of other points that will be emphasized and enforced through the new season, as there have been complaints about this. Any table talk from players not involved in a hand (this includes reading the board during a live hand and making statements to a player that may influence their play) will not be allowed. A player will receive a warning on the first occurrence, and a time penalty on the next occurrence. In addition, when multiple players are involved in a hand, table talk (including that of a player who is in the hand), should be kept to a minimum. Remember, we are all here for fun, but play should also be fair, too!
For Season 8, our Championship Final Table will also go back down to eight players (top 7 plus wild card winner). This may increase back to nine players, but is dependant on overall league participation throughout the season (average players per tourney).
The last change is that our payout schedule will be slightly modified for the new season. Up to ten players will pay 2 spots (65/35), eleven to sixteen players will pay 3 spots (55/30/15), and seventeen to 24 players will pay 4 spots (50/25/15/10).This should increase payout to more people throughout the season.
If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming season or the new rule changes, please contact Greg for more info. |
